– Severe symptoms that develop over time include:
- Changes in mood and behavior
- Disorientation
- Confusion about times, places and events
- Severe memory loss
- Challenges with speech
- Challenges with swallowing

Dementia:
The Alzheimer’s Association says “Dementia is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life.”

– Alzheimer’s is the most common type
– Vascular Dementia is the second most common type, occurring after having a stroke
– Can be caused by Hyper/Hypothyroidism
– Can be caused by a lack of essential vitamins (depends on the person)
– Symptoms of Dementia vary, but are easier to spot:
- Impaired memory
- Impaired communication and speaking
- Weakened Visual perception
- Difficulty focusing
- Lack of reasoning and judgment
